Hi! I'm Marie, the artist behind Shala Art. Welcome to my online store.
All Shala Art is hand drawn, taking anywhere from 20 to 90 hours. It is a labour of love, drawing every single dot and line with care and attention. With one of my mandalas, you know you are getting a piece of art created with genuine love, that has the power to inspire your creativity and bring a sense of peace to your home.
My love of creating mandalas began while I was travelling in 2018, as a way to share uplifting gifts with strangers I met. I became hooked by the meditative effects of hand-drawing mandalas as a way to process emotions and create a sense of connection and peace in my life. Today, I live and work from the mountains in Austria, and it brings me so much joy to share the beneficial effects of mandala art to people all over the world.
Shala is a Sanskrit word meaning “home”. But to me, it encompasses a lot more than the word itself. As someone that has moved around the world, I have always found creating artwork gives me a sense of being home; a sense of belonging no matter where you are. My art is art for the home, whether home to you is mental, physical or social.
It was printed on a very high quality paper, and the print was flawless - which enhances all of the details in the art. It almost seemed like the real thing. I've been a huge fan of Marie's work and was thrilled to see my very own print! I needed another creation to match my print as a pair and Marie offered to create another piece. She was very proactive through the entire process and helped me pick the perfect piece of art. I couldn't be happier with my purchase!
