The story behind the art
The 50cmx50cm original drawing was inspired by a move from England to Austria in the midst of the global pandemic, and finished months later when Austria really felt like home. Flying birds are the central aspect representing freedom and exploration, with the sun representing empowerment and new beginnings. The negative space that forms interweaving white lines unfurling outwards through the leaves, also represents of the internal mental and emotional breakthroughs that are experienced through taking on big changes, releasing ourselves for our own mental doubts and limitations, and allowing us to grow into new spaces and ways of being.
