The story behind the art
Modelled around the Wanaka Tree (some say the most photographed tree in the world!), representing the Tree of Life. This symbol can mean different things for different people, but for me it reflects connection with nature, and the inevitability of change and growth through the seasons of life. "Just as the branches of a tree strengthen and grow upwards to the sky, we too grow stronger, striving for greater knowledge, wisdom and new experiences as we move through life." The piece also contains elements of mountains, water (as Lake Wanaka), the moon cycles, and the sun, which appears to be rising up behind the tree.
