The story behind the art
This piece was first inspired by one of my favourite guiding yoga phrases, "Root to Rise".
When a storm hits, it's easy to feel like a fragile branch quivering out of control in the wind. We forget we are in fact the entire ancient tree, with roots that we have grown through the darkness. Through every struggle, every failure, and every loss, they stretch deeper.
Our roots ground us with the strength, stability and courage to withstand the storms, and turn the rain into the sustenance we need to grow branches and flourish in places we never imagined we'd reach. We are gifted with the chance to grow through the dark, so we may rise higher and higher into the light, provide shelter, fruit and air to breathe to all around us.
