This design is completely hand-drawn using fine line ink pens, the original took 60-70 hours of drawing to complete. Prints are limited edition.
The story behind the art
A mandala drawn around a sacred geometric structure you may recognise as the natural growing pattern of many plants and natural forms. This design was created to celebrate the centenary of my childhood hometown in England, Welwyn Garden City. The Garden City Movement was a 20th century urban planning movement, creating a series of "ideal" towns, surrounded by rolling green land, that would combine the best of the city and the countryside. It's a celebration of nature, and the gratitude I feel for nature being integrated into the essence of the town I grew up in.
